The role of the Operations Manager
The CEO and Director of Operations are looking for a mission-focused, strategic and process-minded individual. The successful Operations Manager will have a broad range of skills, enabling them to support both the Director of Operations and the Startup Managers, whilst also fulfilling their own day-to-day responsibilities.


Core Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Operations and Founder and CEO of Toucan Ventures Ltd, the Operations Manager will support all internal operations and will have the following responsibilities:


Finance and Human Resources
– Cultivate the values of Toucan within the organisation
– Manage the pension scheme and health insurance scheme for the organisation
– Manage and maintain an accounting system that provides the organisation with quick access to financial information and enables strategic budgeting.
– Manage the relationship with the outsourced accountants to schedule payroll, liaise on bookkeeping, process management accounts and ensure that Toucan is in full compliance with all regulatory matters.


Work alongside the CEO and Director of Operations, with regards to responsibilities to the Board.

– Prepare monthly Board papers
– Succinctly summarise the meeting in the format approved by the Chairman of the Board.


Social Media and Marketing
– Manage the Communications and Social Media intern, advising them on suitable content and tone of voice
– Work together with the Communications and Social Media intern to develop a communications strategy that represents Toucan’s values and mission
– Upload content onto the Toucan website, using WordPress


– Manage external partnerships from the process of onboarding to referring our clients to their services and, in turn, referring their clients to our services

– Proven ability to work with efficiency and flexibility
– Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people – junior and senior, and from diverse backgrounds.
– Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
– Self-starter, self-disciplined
– Spark, imagination, creativity
– Interest in the creative industry, specifically in the food and beverage, retail and lifestyle sectors
– Efficiency at MS Office, Google Analytics, WordPress.
– Remain focused in the face of pressure, delivers against timelines, not intimidated by tasks/time limitations
– Must have UK work authorisation.

Communications and Social Media Intern

The role of the Communications and Social Media Intern
An interesting role in a collaborative environment. Toucan Ventures is looking for an intern to enter a multi-faceted role comprising of social media, marketing, events management, and general administration. The applicant should have experience in digital media strategies, with a focus in the creative and business industries.


Communications Responsibilities

– Lead and deliver company’s digital media strategy
– Create and curate engaging content i.e. social media posts, blog posts and newsletters
– Comprehensively analyse and present digital media performance and feedback to Toucan’s CEO and management team, using both quantitative and qualitative methods
– Build and update media lists and databases
– Design Toucan marketing material i.e. brochures, decks and merchandise
– Create effective and engaging decks that will be sent to high-profile members of the Toucan ecosystem
– Upload content onto website using WordPress and summarise data from Google Analytics
– Coordinate and manage Toucan events

Administrative Responsibilities

– Manage the team calendar, using Google apps
– Assist the CEO with scheduling day-to-day office activities
– Co-ordinate meetings with the team and external parties
– Preparing and distributing papers and documents for meetings
– Answering the phone and answering queries


– Proven understanding of all social media networks
– Efficiency at MS Office (particularly MS PowerPoint), Google Analytics, WordPress.
– Creative capacity and a keen eye for design. Preference for experience with graphic editing tools (i.e. Photoshop)
– Interest in the creative industry i.e. food and beverage, retail and lifestyle sectors
– Experience in working with start-ups in the creative industry. Preference for experience in financial sector.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Exceptional attention to detail and organisation skills
– Strong desire to learn, along with professional drive
– Team work skills and multi-tasking abilities
– Bachelors Degree or equivalent
